About Me

I live in Frome, Somerset in South West England with my family after spending many years living in London, Jersey and the Isle of Man.

I have painted and created all my life and have been working as a professional artist for many years.  Prior to this like many artists I had to have a grown up job to make ends meet.  Once married and when my children began school I was able to give up full time work and concentrate on my art.

I am an ardent people watcher and I believe this journey has provided me a window into how many people live and react to life thus informing my images.  Originally inspired by the landscape I take images from life working them into thoughts, dreams and my own insights into modern day life which seems to resonate with many people when they see my work.

I mainly use oils paint but I also enjoy experimenting with watercolours, pen and ink and other mixed media.  I did a Foundation Course in Art at Great Yarmouth College of Art and Design in Norfolk and then studied for a Diploma in Textiles.  I took further courses in painting and drawing in London while I was still working in accountancy, banking then computer management across London. However I found I was often steered by tutors in the direction they felt right and now strongly believe in finding my own way to express myself so that my imagination is not stifled.

My studio is in my home in Frome, Somerset.  I take part in open studio events either from my home or in venues across the South West.  I organise the Frome Artists Cafe which is a great way to network with like minded people and from 2010 to 2016 organised the Annual Frome Open Studios which takes place every July during the famous Frome Festival. I am also a member of The Frome Art Society and The Old Bakery Artists who actively exhibit as a group all over the area (see links below).

Bruton Art Factory awarded me a place in their 2016 Exhibition Way Out West Part 1.  For more details of my events please see my Exhibitions page.

I have curated large exhibitions in Somerset and Wiltshire, sold and had work featured in the Fringe Arts Bath Festival, 44AD Gallery, Bath, Gagliardi Gallery, London and many other locations.
